Additional property transfer tax (foreign buyers)

BC charges foreign nationals and foreign entities an additional 20% property transfer tax on residential property in specified areas, including Metro Vancouver.

Separately, a federal ban stops most non-Canadians from buying residential property in Canada; it's been extended to January 1, 2027. Both have exceptions, so anyone affected should get legal advice before making an offer.
