Notary public (conveyancing)
In BC a notary public can handle the legal side of a home purchase or sale, such as registering the transfer and mortgage, as well as a lawyer can.
BC notaries are a separate regulated profession, and for a straightforward residential transaction they're a common, often less expensive choice. A lawyer is the better fit when the deal involves a dispute, an estate or unusual title issues.
